I was asked about the title the other day by a curious friend and fan. It all stems from a conversation with a woman I was interested in dating some years back.
As friends we were already ‘hanging out’ as the saying goes. I had already expressed my romantic interest, however she was hesitating. In her hesitation she mentioned that she thought I partied all the time, meaning I was out being a DJ 90% of the time.
Yeah, most people don’t get that the creative process is just the opposite in practice. I spend 90% of my time in the DJ world in the studio and a host of other business related matters before that 2 to 5 hours of deck time you see.
Even if I just played records, a DJ will spend much more time listening to tons of music before hitting the DJ booth.
At any rate, I was inspired to pen this poem, Fridays Alone. I then wrote this song from the prose.
