Songkick

It’s finally here! My events will now be announced on Songkick.

This also allows my events to sync with my Spotify artist page. Another level of synergy is accomplished. And now you don’t have to miss another announcement if you follow me on Spotify and didn’t know where else I post my shows.

No worries. I will still be posting my events on BandsInTown, on my record label website mGrooves.com, and here.

Top Spotify Tracks

My music is on other streaming and download platforms. Check out these titles on Amazon Prime Music, Youtube Music, Pandora, and many others.

If you don’t find these titles on your favorite streaming or download site, let me know. I’d be happy to get them to you those digital services.

The 3rd most popular track of mine on Spotify is NER 808 (Extended Mix).

Did you know that NER is an acronym for North East Regional and 808 as in 8:08 train. The track was inspired by a number of ride share clients I picked up on that train at Penn Station in Baltimore.

My 2nd most popular track on Spotify this month is Soul Unltd.

This track is a part of a 3 track EP with Ed Ridgley. This was my solo production on that EP. The way this track came together is forever gratifying. Starting with only the vocals, I came up with that funky bass line. After that, the drums and keys seemed to just fall into place.

Currently, my most popular track on Spotify is one of my older tracks.

This track also came together rather quickly. Trust me this is not always the case.

Experience all of these tracks along with other music from other genres besides dance music in my LiftConfidential playlist. Press play on shuffle play to really have an adventurous listening experience.

When The Music Is Loud

It was the first thing I saw this morning. My phone served up pictures of her and I, one by one. Memories. And then the last photo was a collage of the previous pictures all together.

It was a bit much to start the day with for something that’s over.

Fortunately, my go to therapy is music. I did drop a BSB preview show the night before on Twitch. And today going through addition tunes for a likely pop-up Stay House later this week.

The Re-Binge

Many of you know that I am a geek, nerd, dork, and a huge fan of science fiction. I’m also equally picky as I am passionate about science fiction.

High on my sci-fi list is the series The Expanse which after starting on and being cancelled by SyFy was picked up by Amazon Prime. They have released a trailer for their final and sixth season recently.

And now I’m re-watching the 5 seasons in preparation for this coming season.

I have often watched very closely the music chosen to accompany series. Sometimes you can come across some overlooked gems.

This is often the case in this show. Oh to be sure there are some flops. The track used for the club scene where Nagata and Drummer are ‘hydrating’ after handball comes to mind.

One of my favorites though is in Season 2 Episode 3: Static. Amos is delivering Miller a bag of his personal effects in a bar after being kicked off the Rocinante. And in the background the song Starstruck by Santigold is playing. It is paired well with the energy of the scene, and with Amos’ wisdom to Miller, “You keep picking the wrong fights with the wrong people.”

I have re-added Starstruck to my multi-genre playlist #LiftConfidential on Spotify.

Throwback Look To Audio Infusion

A recent weekend was the second time this summer I had the honor of preparing a mix for The Audio Infusion show.

This late night (over night) show has been one of my favorite local music institutions. In a previous non-pandemic year, I have been actually in the studio for some on-air conversations. In some years, I have actually played live for the show.

Unlike the mix prepared for Audio Infusion earlier this summer, I decided to delve into some of my older tracks instead of recent releases.

Thank you Patrick Scientific for having me on again. It was a pleasure.

Throwback Tracks In That Mix

The 12 track mix submitted for broadcast included 3 of my own released on my imprint mGrooves Music and 1 underground unreleased remix of mine. Here is a listen to the 3 released on my record label.

Love Hate

So the for the last several weeks, I have been fighting a battle. And it’s not against coronavirus.

By the way. STAY AT HOME! COVID-19 is not a joke or hoax! There. I’m done my PSA for a time.

Anyway, my battle has been with Spotify who I both love and hate.

I have loved the way they initially were a disrupter to the stodgy old record industry, going right at all the old gate keepers preventing many talented folks from reaching new and larger audiences.

I have come to hate that they are now in league with those same record companies and have become gate keepers themselves.

They removed my podcast from their platform under the accusation that I was distributing my music. It’s not like they don’t sale ads against my (and everyone else’s) podcasts to those who are on the free side of Spotify.

So unfortunately, for the foreseeable future there will NOT be any BSB podcasts on that platform. Thankfully, if you are also on Google or Apple, they continue to appear there.

I also am going to be starting a Mixcloud Select account soon as well. Under Select, there will be, as the name suggests, exclusive content and early content not be had or had before it may appear elsewhere. Stay tuned for those details.

Thank you all, who tuned in on Spotify to my podcast and mix show. I hope to be providing you more mixtape eargam pleasure on these other platforms!
